If those numbers are any good, the most interesting point is the famous attach rate or tie rate...

Both consoles (360 and PS3) sold about 1.8 millions games each last week. And the only new games released during that week where:
NBA2K10 (A game that should sell well in America, home of the 360)
Operation Flashpoint (A shooter, don't need to say more)
NBA Live (Ooops, again a true American game)
Star Wars (More american than that, you die)

So...

I have a PC with a video card that cost more than any console right now. So yes, PCs are great, but expensive! On the other side, if I had to pick 10 reasons, they would not be those one!!!

1) Use of Mouse and Keyboard in PC: You can use those on a console. Unreal Tournament for PS3 does. Devs just don't want to go this way.

2) Screen Resolution: The screen resolution is truly high in PC so you think 1980X1080 is not high enough? Most PC gamers have their resolution...

Sadly though, the release timing is pretty bad with Uncharted 2 coming out just a week after... Not the same type of game, but quite often, most people can only afford a game per month or less... It would have been nice to see the numbers for a few weeks, without a big gun coming out in there. Word of mouth would have done great... Even just talking about shortage, since they obviously were not expecting those numbers would have kept the sales going. Well, still looking awesome, particula...

1- Selling Natal for $150? Possible. After all, even if it cost $200 to produce, Microsoft will push this thing like crazy to extend the life of the 360 as much as possible. They won't mind loosing money on it.

2- Bundling it? DEFINITIVELY. It's much easier to subsidize it if you bundle it with thing you can make money out of it. So YES, a 360, Natal, and even a free game or two... May still be a bit expensive though, particularly when this is aiming for the non hardcore gam...

If so, care to explain why it didn't revolutionize the Playstation 2 then???

Natal is a big processor (analysing all the vectors, recognizing faces, fingers, body, etc... Add to this some pretty accurate distance sensors, and a relatively expensive camera to feed that processors.

Yes, the Eye Toy was in your expected price range, but Natal is still currently expected to be in the $200 range, and that's if Microsoft sell it at or below cost.

It has been said many time already. Distance sensors, expensive camera and built in processing currently as big as the processor in the 360 itself! Best case scenario is still currently $200 and even then, Microsoft would have to sell it below cost!

Wow, this guy can pull funny predictions out of is a......

Now, I'm not an ANALyst like him, but if what he say for next year: "I said a $249.99 Xbox 360 with a 250Gb hard drive and Natal included. " is pret...

It's relatively easy to do, and they are relatively cheap, particularly if you order them from Hong Kong. Open cover, pull two connectors, and voilà... Cheaper than getting it replaced by Sony themselves and your PS3 never have to leave home!

With single approval, a game has to be approved for EVERY country in the world. Currently it's quite common to see games not being released at all, in some countries, because of adult content, age rating, violence, racist, etc...

So with single approval, you have to meet the criteria for ALL countries at ONCE, usually toning down every games, making sure there's nothing that will offend any country, anywhere in the world, etc, etc, etc. Then you can release the game worldwide. ...

First time I'm hearing about having some much trouble with polygons on a PS3...

Power supply dying is another story though. Hope for him that the polygons problems were caused by the power supply simply being out of specs. If that's the case, that would be a very easy problem to fix. (Replace power supply and both problems are gone) But as far as I'm concerned, the polygons problem is bad memory, or bad GPU. No easy fix for any of them... (and not common either).

All positives, which I've read already everywhere else, so nothing new. But with a 9.3, I would also have like to know what he found wrong with it. Particularly giving a 9.0 for the sound (never read anything wrong about sound yet, so very, very curious).

Not that it does matter much... Already bought the game, but could not play it yet, but will in exactly 9 hours (yahoooo!)

Well, Epic did a decent job with the Unreal Engine, yet, ONLY Batman A.A. came out good on both consoles (thank you Eidos). The same engine has been used by quite a few different developers so far, yet, only one managed to make a game that look great on both consoles. End results, it's even selling more on the PS3 (with a lower install base!!!). It does pay to polish a multi console game. But so far, it seem like most devs don't bother. We are not even talking about rewriting a whole game ...

Would also like to find out who those analysts are : )

Playstation 3 is not even 3 years old yet!!! 2012 is only 2years and 2 months away.... So that would give the PS3 a good 5 years... That's a bit early to me... The other consoles? Quite possible. A WiiHD is likely already on the burner, and the 360 will be 6 years old and not aging as well (multiple DVDs anyone?)

1- It could not fit on two disk... (yet both dvds and DLC would have fitted on a simple 25gig bluray)
2- They didn't had time to put them on the disk (ship, ship, ship) so how's the rest of the game?... I hate the fact that ALL devs seem to rush games these days, particularly to meet pre-Christmas sales.

Yet, no matter what though, at least they didn't went the same way some other devs did, and charge for DLC on day one. Kudos! Free stuff is free stuff.

But those top 5 have something amazing going for them...

They cover all the bases.

You get your adventure fix covered
You get your racing fix covered
You get your violence fix covered
You get your twichy shooting finger fix covered
and you get your fantasy world fix covered.

"All your bases are belong to us" as they used to say in the good old time!

Ouch, this is truly crazy.... It will be fun to see how much they manage to sell... Most decent recent ports (Batman, NFSS, etc) came out very close, sale wise, some even sold more on the PS3 side, but poor Jack, coming out at the same time as Uncharted 2??? OUCH. That must hurt!

It's one thing to say: "thousands of Sony PS3 video game owners found that the update caused their PS3 units to malfunction and actually damaged the hardware on many units."

It's another thing to get thousands of Sony PS3 video game owners signatures to prove you were right when you said so... In court, you have to back up your numbers with real proof. Web stories don't count!

And Sony's lawyers will simply say that millions of PS3 have been updated without...

Default resolution on the 360 is: 1024x576 (far from HD isn't it?)

If you simply turn off the motion blur effect (yes, ON THE 360), resolution jumps from 1024x576 to 1365x768

As said in this article, even Digital Foundry could not analyze the PS3 game yet. Resolution found so far for the PS3 is based on pictur...

They have almost no choice...

It will be much quieter and run cooler, thanks to smaller CPU and GPU process. But I don't think it will have more power though... (reducing die size will be good enough to fix most problems they have). A slimmer version would also make sense since they would get less heat.

They said since the beginning that project natal will have his own processor (bringing the cost of the device over $200). This way though, it will be compatible wit...

Am I the only one finding it funny that before Microsoft made dev kits, the only thing able to emulate a Xbox, so dev could start working on games prior to the release of the console, was an Apple product??? Ouch... Main difference between a PC and a Xbox is "Windows".... Instead, they used Mac O.S. for developping games!???

This is turning into a war, yet:

They ONLY analysed the 360 so far. (They have not looked at the PS3 game yet, as said in the article). They do say in the article: "We'll be producing a more in-depth report once we've taken a closer look at the PlayStation 3 version of Tekken 6" Only thing they have seen is pictures, not real PS3 gaming capture.

Resolution found for the 360 is sub HD: 1024x576 If you remove the motion blur option, it then jump to 1365x7...
